When do you qualify?

Your home is older than 5 yearsThe subsidy applies to existing homes. New builds fall outside the scheme, but do benefit from the reduced VAT rate of 6%.
You own the homeTenants and companies do not qualify for this private subsidy.
A registered contractor installs the systemYou need an invoice and an installer with a company number. Installing it yourself gives no right to the subsidy.
You apply within 2 yearsSubmit your file after the installation. You combine the subsidy with the reduced VAT rate of 6%.

Frequently asked questions

Who can apply for the heat-pump subsidy?: Owners of an existing home in the Flemish Region that is older than 5 years. The subsidy is granted once per home and cannot be combined with a similar subsidy from another government.
When is the subsidy paid out?: You submit the file yourself at the Flemish portal, with the invoice and the installer's certificate. Payment follows after approval. NRGEA provides the invoice specifications and technical sheets, so your application is complete.
Does an air-to-air heat pump or air conditioning count?: Yes, air-to-air qualifies, but the subsidy amount is considerably lower than for an air-to-water or geothermal heat pump because the unit can also cool.
What if my home is younger than 5 years?: Then the heat-pump subsidy is not available. You do benefit from the reduced VAT rate of 6% instead of 21% on the installation. On an average installation that saves several hundred euros.
